Seasonal Maintenance Plans

Picture of an HVAC logo of a heat flame and and cool flame.
Many homeowners avoid routine servicing of their HVAC units as they expect it to be costly. As a result, they wait until the HVAC unit stops working to call a technician. Regular servicing of your HVAC unit helps you avoid unnecessary repairs and replacements. Annual HVAC servicing leads to less aggravation, lower cost of repairs, and efficient operation to avoid an upgrade.

We recommend inspecting and cleaning your HVAC systems in the spring and fall every year to ensure that all systems are operating efficiently and running properly.

Our preventative seasonal maintenance plans include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Clean, level, calibrate thermostat.
  • Clean standard air-filters, replacing if needed
  • Inspect and clean heat exchanger(s), burners, draft diverters, and pilot assemblies
  • Inspect and vacuum clean all combustion, flue, and blower compartments
  • Test all safety controls/devices
  • Test all motors, starting capacitors, run capacitors, and potential relays.
  • Test measure, and record operating temperature and pressures.
  • Test, secure, and tighten all electrical connections and terminals.
  • Lubricate moving parts, as applicable
  • Check and adjust all drive belts and pulleys, as applicable
  • Check and adjust all main air dampers, as applicable
  • Activate heating or cooling system.

After the inspection, testing, and cleaning of your HVAC systems, we will provide feedback of all findings, complete with any recommendations that we may have.
Maintaining your HVAC system can have many benefits including:
  • Healthy and Clean Air: A well maintained HVAC unit not only keeps a home cool or warm, but it also improves air quality . When you carry out service works on a HVAC, coils and filters remain clean which translates to cleaner air for the family. An HVAC unit that operates for too long without servicing is a breeding habitat for mold, dirt, and bacteria, which can cause or aggravate respiratory problems for the people in the home or commercial building.
  • Reduced Utility Bills: An HVAC unit that is energy efficient will save you money on your gas and/or electric bills. Servicing an HVAC unit also helps in preventing repairs or complete replacements.
  • Prolongs HVAC Lifespan: The better you maintain your HVAC unit, the more time you will have it to provide heating and cooling to your home or office.
  • Efficiency: An unmaintained HVAC unit does not function efficiently. There is research that supports, that an HVAC unit that is not maintained works 20% more than one that is well-maintained to produce the same heat and cold effect. Servicing ensures that the machine uses less energy when running, which reduces stress on machine components
  • Fewer Emergency Repairs: HVAC systems may, at times require emergency repairs, but a well-maintained unit is less likely to stop working when it is needed most (November-March and June-August). When your unit is updated on all evaluations and service checks, it gives you comfort and assurance that the unit should function per expectations when it is needed most.
  • Warranty: Another reason for maintaining an HVAC unit is because of the warranty. Note expiration dates and inspect the parts that are under the warranty. If some of the parts have problems, take them back to the dealer for servicing or repairs before expiry of the warranty. Parts under a warranty are usually fixed free of charge within the duration of the warranty.

At Mercer Heating and Cooling , we have experienced and skilled technicians to ensure that your HVAC system runs efficiently. Contact us to join our seasonal maintenance plans, so that you can rest east knowing that your heater and air conditioner will always be in tip top shape!
